The Portuguese Podengo Grande is a big, boisterous sighthound, a true country companion with an independent spirit. These lively dogs are always up for an adventure, their keen senses constantly on alert for anything interesting: a squirrel, a leaf, another dog to romp with. They're surprisingly affectionate with their people, often settling in for a cuddle after a long day of exploring, but they also retain a certain primitive charm, a self-sufficiency forged over centuries of autonomous hunting. Training requires patience and consistency, as their clever minds often have their own ideas, but their goofy antics and unwavering loyalty make them incredibly rewarding companions for active homes.
