The Otterhound is a jocular, shaggy-coated companion, always up for a muddy adventure or a goofy snuggle. They possess a deep, booming bay that echoes their past as enthusiastic hunters, and they are not shy about using it to announce visitors or express their joy. These dogs are famously affectionate with their family, forming strong bonds and often leaning in for a "hug." While intelligent, their independent streak and love of a good scent trail mean they can be easily distracted, making recall a work in progress. Their zest for life and sometimes clumsy playfulness makes every day an endearing, if occasionally wet and boisterous, escapade.
