The Bouvier des Flandres is a calm, watchful presence, carrying a quiet dignity reminiscent of their cattle-herding past. They are fiercely devoted to their families, often forming a singular, deep bond with one person, though they are loving towards all. With strangers, they remain aloof and discerning, their imposing physique a natural deterrent, but never aggressive without cause. Their intelligence demands purpose, and a bored Bouvier can be a creative (and destructive) force, so consistent training and a job to do, even just "neighborhood watch", are essential to their happiness and a harmonious home.
